Common sense, objective vs. subjective & ARGUING
Once upon a time, there was a man who worked at a hospital. He worked there nearly all through the 90s then into 2001. He was taught by a very good instructor; more importantly, he received an outstanding book on electric conduction of the heart, normal heart rhythm and most importantly, arrhythmias. He read through that book. He used the *+!ancient practice of learning. Then he worked at another hospital from 2003-2007. He learned new software for dealing with arrhythmias. He did well and left after learning he could get overtime at the law firm he was at.
After 12 years of not working in a hospital, he came back to the last ***hospital, with NEW software, where he is still in good standing.

This is where it gets humorous. The man had an older, close relative. There were times where this relative was brash and arrogant. So when the cardiac monitor tech told him he knows what A-Fib (Atrial Fibrillation) is, this old relative dismissed out of hand his learned knowledge, "You don't know what A-Fib is!" The tech just laughed; he wasn't going to fight at a family occasion as he'd be branded as "BAD" b/c he fought/argued at a family occasion.
& it gets more and more humorous. So, the Mom of these 2 individuals went to the hospital because she had Atrial Fibrillation. In an email to family, the cardiac tech stated he knew what A-Fib was and discussed it a little bit, but not enough for family to think he was arrogant.
The "little bit" was too much for "older relative." Yet, something happened to him that the cardiac tech admired. He changed quite a bit. He told the person just after the Millenium started that he wanted to find peace. He turned to God in an upright, thorough manner. YES, HE CHANGED!
Yet, sometimes not quite enough change. So, he wrote a tactful email to tech indicating that tech had made a mistake. He hinted at the same supposedly "stupid" error that cardiac tech did the first time. He urged him to rethink his way.
Clearly the older relative had NO COMMON SENSE to tell his young relative that he didn't know A-Fib the first time or the last time. The first time cardiac tech had over 5 years of experience and the hospital's expectation was that he know what A-Fib is!!!!! He had relayed numerous, many times to nurses when patients A-Fib had occurred. He was rebuked on the rare occasion that he missed it.
Then the second time the older wiser relative dropped hints at him being wrong about the tech wrongly discussing knowledge of A-Fib-older relative showed no common sense. That time the cardiac monitor tech had absolutely enough. He wrote right back to the relative saying that (and this is paraphrasing) if he wanted a decent relationship he better not make that stupid error about presuming tech didn't know A-Fib and could show him an ECG strip why it's A-Fib if his wife had it. Tech was upset that month because, older relative was being arrogant, being presumptuous, and not having a fu-k-n clue as to what tech specifically did at the hospital.

Part 2
The 2020 election had much fight, anger, hubris, and arrogance. The objective facts were that Joseph Biden won the election. I know that he is the rightful president as he respects the rule of law.
I know that all presidents lie w/ the possible exception of President Carter 3(footnote below)
Yet, the quantity of lies, numerous lies that were soon proven to be false were such that no president before him had told so many, so material, important lies. Bob Woodward, in the book Veil stated and recorded Trump speaking to him so he couldn't once again lie to the public and that Trump justified misleading the American people about COVID in spring of 2020. Yet, the American people are strong enough to hear the truth.
Very sadly, there's an altogether too large group that
A. don't think masks have helped in COVID and
B. that the vaccines have made a substantial contribution to lowering the deaths of COVID. One of the highest months of COVID was January, 2021. A month when a majority of the time Ex-President Trump (hereinafter referred to as "EPT") was president.
C. Vaccines have made COVID a less lethal situaiton. I laugh and laugh when the "red reactionaries" turn on Trump when he encourages people to get vaccinated, they think and/or assert to friends and family that EPT is full of shit about that. I know of no family that does that, but read quotes in the newspaper stating that they do that.
Now, let's turn to "common sense." In December, 2021, I spoke to an in-law that said that I lack "common sense" for voting for Biden. "Lacked common sense" for stating facts about the election, tried to explain to her through some analogies and she was either too self-righteous or too stubbornd to see the point I was trying to make. Too many arguments are where 2 people fighting absolutely feel the need to win the argument. I may have won some arguments during my marriage, but we clearly lost the "war" and got divorced. The in law lacked common sense, b/c, when the recount was done in Wisconsin counties that EPT wanted recounts in, they found even more votes for Biden. When the conservative vote-counting company in Arizona found that Biden won in Ariz, I laughed. Yeah the Cult needs to get a clue that a vast majority of minorities are canceling out the Cult by voting for Democrats while the Cult votes Republican. No common sense was shown in her little snit on fb None at all.
I agree wholeheartedly with former Speaker Pelosi. I never hated Republicans; I only hated the policies that hurt this great nation. I do pray for them. As a Catholic I was taught by my parents, by my CCD that hate of a person is a sin.
Global warming is supported by objective data. Only oil barons, the Cult and those that cling to beliefs 50years old don't want to do something and support what's already done relating to Global Warming. Those people are so subjective and so wrong!!
Another funny thing about that in law....she also said I couldn't get a job and need to "get it together." Saying this at the point where I was 2 years at current hospital in good standing. That stupid B_(*&^*&^% needs to stop reading "yesterday's news" and stop listening to people talking in caricatures rather than discussing what actual people actually do OBJECTIVELY. Oh wait, no offense to the one speaking caricatures, she's really a good person who does very well with spending and budgeting. Much better than my ex-wife.
Many if not most arguments should enhance understanding, not victory leading to bitterness. But, I would love to say to the in law, "you belong to a cult. You act like you would follow Trump to the "ends of the Earth." You never nor has the rest of my family (except one brother++*) admitted Trump was not that good of a president. I really truly wish that family could admit 4 major flaws that Trump committed as President! & DON'T try to win the argument by including those flaws involving Democrats!"
EPT was the king of the subjective, speak from the gut, take a germ of fact, the objective part and run with it.
They say things like:
Biden never did anything good in the 50 years he's served in Washington DC!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The Clintons never did anything in the time he was president, that includes when Hillary was Senator Clinton, Secretary of State!!" Can't admit the facts, can't name objective facts relating to laws passed, Can't admit that Obamacare is good for the nation! They can't admit the major accomplishments of: the Clinton administration, Senator Clinton, Secretary of State Clinton and Obamacare!
The Cult dismisses, Harvard University's study showing that 45,000 uninsured people died before and right after it was passed in 2010. Think about it! Even my older brother, Bob, was smart enough (as he runs/helps his son run a highly successful dairy farm corporation) to give employees health insurance! Objectively speaking, the uninsured or underinsured will die more often than those with insurance. They dismiss it because it doesn't fit their subjective world. They dismiss objective data.
The Cult wants to vote for Trump 2 more times (once in primary and once in general election). The Cult does not include those who would rather vote for Ron DeSantis. If there are people who like Trump's Supreme Court picks that gave abortion to the authority of state government, that's fine. I still hate abortion, but it needs to have exceptions of rape, incest, threat of life to mother. I do believe in the pill taken after a stupid, immature night of sex. People make big errors.
If they could state major positive accomplishments, at least 4, from the above people/senate terms, etc they're not in the Cult.
I also laugh when people say the Republican party is going to disintegrate. As Mark Twain would say, "rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated" I learned in life never to underestimate an adversity.
Still, I am very happy that the election deniers and those reactionaries voting for them and the Cult were figuratively kicked hard in the stomach and diaphragm when they found out election deniers WERE BEATEN in Nov., 2022!!!!

*+! Clearly, it IS ancient, b/c you can Google "distributive learning" and it's not even in the first websites describing it if it's there at all. Distributive learning was taught in the 80s. Teachers told their students about it from there.
Here it is. Suppose one is learning a difficult topic. A man can be in the classroom and does the following:
1. hears the lecture, and learns a portion of what the teacher is teaching
2. not many do, but this man knows shorthand so writing notes in shorthand is a way to learn even better than listening.
3. The man chooses transcribing his notes over being lazy, and just thinking his shorthand notes are enough. He not only reinforces the shorthand skill by transcribing and typing the notes, but also by recalling other points he learned in the lecture and adding to the even better notes!
4. He reads those notes when necessary.
There's an even easier example than that. If you are given a textbook on a subject that is difficult for you, it's not enough to read it once and expect to ace the test. You need to read it 2, 3 or more times. If you are having a tough time, you may even use the SQ3R method (& that IS in GOOGLE)
***Where after 4 years, this man is STILL in GOOD STANDING. & don't do the Chris Rock saying of "you're supposed to do something that's expected of you, ya low expectations m_th_rfu__er!" You are dealing with life-or-death situations. You are the first person that knows when patients need to be rushed to the ICU, b/c you caught on the computer screen that their heart rate went from 60 to the 20s numerous times! You are the first person to know that a patient who is supremely sick and is going to take his last heart beat and die. You see his heart pause 2 seconds. You tell the RN and she gives you parameters on when to call her. The pause goes 3.5 sec., 5 sec. then 36 seconds is the last beat he takes and dies.
++*That brother said that a relative was wrong for going too far to do something after the election.
3 On the bicentennial year, Jimmy Carter looked the camera right in the eye, right in the eye of Americans watching his political ad, and said he would never lie. Maybe he should have not been so sanctimonious, because he wasn't that good a president. Something that he has the honesty to strongly hint at.
Trump is on record for not admitting wrongdoing. He said saying an apology is a sign of weakness. He admitted during the debates that he's a bad loser. He still is!!!!!!
He's proven since the election that he is a bad loser!!!!!!!!!!!
One last thing, Reactionaries hate current policy toward gays and that the Supreme Court ruled in support of gays. I wholeheartedly agreed with them until the 90s. Objective data points to a gay gene, so gays are born gay. A small percentage of them want to be gay and weren't born with that gene. & I admit that preceding sentence is subjective.
